Background

Savonlinna is a small city on the shores of the Lake Saimaa in Eastern Finland. The city is famous for its mesmerizing nature. The biggest freshwater water lake in Finland, Lake Saimaa, surrounds a beautiful city. In that freshwater lives one of the most endangered seals in the world, Saimaa ringed seal, with a total population of only about 430 individuals.

Seals Of Saimaa project values come from the love for the project team home town, Savonlinna, the Lake Saimaa, and the ringed seals living in the area.
